A Great Summer Bible Study
The busy summer season is often the time when we call a halt to our regular Bible studies. With all the
activities of summer, travel and with the children out of school, it somehow just seems easier not to
participate in a summer Bible study. Practical though it may be, this just may not be
the best option for your spiritual growth.
Summer Bible Study is Necessary
If you are a diligent Bible student, no doubt you have worked hard to carve out time and space
in your busy schedule to study the Word of God. As a matter of fact, when you first started studying Bible the
enemy probably fought you every step of the way to keep you from the your Bible studies. Think
back. Isn't this true?
(If you want to be a Bible student, be aware that you will probably face this battle.)
So, if you completely stop your established Bible study routine over the summer, you are actually
giving up hard won ground back over to the enemy. No summer Bible study actually removes
you from the very thing that's filling your soul. It's like making up your mind to go on a diet - limit
your food intake and choosing not to eat anything all - a total fast. You are going on a
spiritual fast and that is never good.
A Greek philosopher once said that "nature abhors a vacuum" and in the case of
"taking a pass" on summer Bible study, it really is true. In the end, the time you have
struggled to carve out for your Bible studies becomes filled with all kinds of "busyness" and it is very
tough to get that time back. By choosing this course of action that creates a vacuum you take
yourself away from the very thing that enables you to stand steadfast in tough times.
Choose Sweeter than Chocolate for your Summer Bible Study
Why not make a different choice this summer and avoid the battle to take the ground back in the
fall? Don't give up ground at all. Choose to stay in the word by using Sweeter than
Chocolate as your summer Bible study. It only takes 6 weeks or you could
stretch it out over more time.
Couldn't this be a perfect opportunity to invite a friend to study with you and bless someone with the inductive
Bible study method.

A summer Bible study with Sweeter than Chocolate does not have to be a big production. As
a matter of fact, it should not be a big production. It could just be the thing to help offset the
"buzy-ness" of summer and bring back the "lazy days of summer" you remember from your childhood.
This summer Bible study just may be the most memoriable part of your summer. You
will stay in the Word, try something new and learn the promises of Psalms 119. Truth be told, your friend will
probably be forever grateful for the introduction to the power of inductive Bible study as you explore
the truths in Psalms 119 together.
